This blue and gold Paperblanks Equinoxe Azure journal reproduces a 1688 binding protecting Loffice de la Semaine Sainte. The original binding was adorned la fanfare, a handtooled pattern edged in gilt. Fanfare, which was a style popular in the seventeenth century, required tremendous skill on the part of the bookbinder and was reserved for books of great importance.

In honour of the great horror classic Dracula by Irish author Bram Stoker (1847-1912), Paperblanks offers a page from Stoker's original 1897 playscript adapted from his novel. This cover shows a piece of the Preface from the galley of proof for his play. The play stayed close to the gothic novel, but the author pared away material from thenarrative to make it more visual.

One can hardly conceive of a plant more conducive to poetry than the aptly named "sensitive plant". The sensitive plant (mimosa pudica), also known as the shy plant or touch-me-not, has leaves that shrink away from the touch. It closes tight in the dark and opens to the light.

The design reproduced on Paperblanks' Poetry in Bloom cover was crafted by Riviere and Son and made with green morocco within fillets of gilt. The centrepiece is a sensitive plant surrounded by chambers containing snowdrops and other richly hued and contrasting flowers, foliage and butterflies. The original binding was used for The Sensitive Plant and Early Poems by Percy Bysshe Shelley, which employs the sensitive plant as an emblem for exploring how to find meaning and order in a world that leans toward entropy and chaos.

Olena Skytsiuk is one of the foremost practitioners of Ukrainian Petrykivka painting, a technique in which each artwork is made with special brushes crafted from cat hairs to create a visual e?ect unlike any other. The style was born in the village of Petrykivka in the 17th century and is now recognised by UNESCO as part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
